If you have an aversion to nudity or risque imagery you might not want to read any further. Utah-based Ogden’s Own Distillery recently announced a new vodka in honor of the LGBTQ community. The new beverage, “Five Husbands,” features five chiseled men who are entirely in the buff on a stark white label, with each model holding a large cock over themselves in a fun, yet charming manner.
This isn’t the first time the distillery made waves with its drinks. Ogden’s Own Distillery made headlines earlier in the decade when they promoted their groundbreaking and daring Five Wives vodka, a product which critics claimed had a heavy connection to polygamy. The state of Idaho went so far as to ban Five Wives vodka from store shelves, according to TODAY, despite Utah having a deeper historical relationship to the practice due to a heavy concentration of Mormons.
Distillery CEO Steve Conlin made his enthusiasm for the product – and the philosophy it represents – very clear in a statement to NBC News regarding the launch of Five Husbands vodka. “Believe it or not, under the surface, Utah is a pretty fun and wild place,” he said. “[It is] really progressive once you get past the religion.”
Conlin continued with his reasoning for wanting to sponsor the Utah Pride Festival, pointing to the magic of acceptance and personal freedom. “There’s something really magical about seeing people being able to express themselves and be themselves.”
On the other side of the discussion, pride festival organizers seem equally pleased to have a major local sponsor approach them for a partnership. Liz Pitts of the Utah Pride Center told interviewers with Q Salt Lake that the gesture was very much appreciated. “We are a festival that celebrates our local community,” she said. “and we are excited when homegrown companies want to be part of it in such a fun way.”
With a label that may appeal to members of both sexes – and a positive attitude to boot – those looking to down a few shots of Five Husbands will have to the Beehive State. You’ll have to be quick though—only 3,000 bottles it are slated for production. Some of the allocation will be available to patrons of Utah’s Pride festival, while the remainder will likely hit local liquor store shelves.
Hopefully, Five Husbands vodka is as robust and muscular as the naked bodies on the bottle.
